Hi, I'm Barbara, a documentary wedding photographer serving couples throughout Washington DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and destinations worldwide.
Originally from Brazil and raised in Portugal, I've always felt most at home exploring. Along the way, I met my husband, Darrion, in Prague back in 2008. One of those rare stories that sounds made up when you tell it. We've been together ever since.
These days, our adventures look a little different. We share our home in Maryland with our daughter, Melian, and two wonderfully ridiculous cats. Círdan mostly treats the couch as a full-time occupation, while Feisty somehow manages to demand affection and threaten violence at the exact same time.
I'm a romantic in the everyday kind of way. The candle-lit dinners on a random pizza night, dancing under a starry sky, leaving little notes for each other to find, or stopping whatever we're doing to admire a beautiful sunset, the moon, or the magic of lightning bugs on a Summer evening. I truly believe it's the small things in life that bring us joy and make life meaningful.
When I'm not photographing weddings, you'll usually find me outside. My garden is one of my favorite places in the world. Spring means picking strawberries, Summer means more tomatoes than any family should reasonably consume, and Winter means dreaming about next year's garden. I also keep bees, spend far too much time mulching, and feel most at home around a bonfire or paddling a kayak down a quiet river.
I love the balance of living close to vibrant cities like DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York while coming home to a quieter life surrounded by trees, wildlife, and muddy feet. It's the best of both worlds, and honestly, it feels a lot like the way I photograph weddings: a little adventurous, a little romantic, beautifully imperfect, and always paying attention to the little moments and details that often end up meaning the most.

Often I mix up the words ‘Chicken’ and ‘kitchen’, so if I tell you ‘Let’s take some photos in the chicken’, you know what I mean
